World Radio Day on 13 February 2026
13 February 2026 is World Radio Day – a medium that has been connecting people for over a century. Radio is celebrated on this day in memory of the founding of United Nations Radio in 1946. But radio is not just history, it is also the future: more and more radio stations are switching from FM to the digital format DAB+.
Conrad has the right technology: discover our impressive selection of digital radios – for even better sound quality, a wide variety of stations and interference-free reception. Or opt for combination devices that also receive internet radio and can play your favourite music via USB.

Conrad has been involved with radio since its inception
When radio began broadcasting regular programmes in Germany on 29 October 1923 and began its triumphant rise, Max Conrad was at the cutting edge. He was one of the first to recognise the technical revolution and had the solution. At that time, radio sets were far too expensive for many people. The Berlin businessman therefore supplied the parts that early listeners needed to build their own radio receivers: headphones, crystals, coils, detectors and capacitors. The key feature was that the company founder sold the components at an affordable price.
The range extends from simple detector receivers to multi-tube mains receivers from well-known manufacturers, supplemented by own brands. For many years, Radio-Conrad's ‘Illustrated Radio Catalogue’ is a welcome reference work on the products of the German radio industry.
