The Windows software EA Battery Simulator (EABS) is a graphical control interface for all bidirectional power supplies of the series EA-PSB 9000 and EA-PSB 10000. The bi-directional function of the devices, i.e. the ability to work alternately as a source or sink, is mandatory for the software. The software is used to simulate lead and lithium ion batteries and their electrical and chemical characteristics during charging and discharging. To this end, it contains a number of tables and libraries which were created in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute. In the battery profiles, which consist of initial values such as battery temperature, internal resistance and charging status, test parameters such as the ambient temperature can also be defined. The physical simulation is implemented by the PSB power supply unit, in conjunction with an appropriate external DC source, e.g. a battery charger or a load, such as a DC motor. The software controls the PSB device in a largely automated manner during the simulation. The user can record data at runtime and also get it displayed on the built-in graph.
