Märklin 039481 H0 steam LOC. 1,002 SNCB

They were mainly the bread and butter locomotives in high-quality high-speed traffic in Europe: Powerful steam coasters with the 2 ‘C1’ wheel arrangement, which, equipped with two running axles, represented three mostly high driving axles and one trailing axle, a perfect design for high speeds with high traction force. The term Pacific originates from the USA, where this locomotive type was introduced for the first time in 1901. From 1935 on our continent, Belgium built not only one of the heaviest and strongest Pacific racers with the 1 series. Their massive appearance was also a tribute to the pride of the Belgians on the achievements of their railway company. Locomotive 1,002 was retained and ready for operation in 1985 for the great 150-year celebration. Today, the racer stands as a well-kept, but unfortunately no longer able exhibit in the Museum of the Chemin de fer à vapeur des 3 valées in Tregnes. Now the new great Märklin-model of this legendary museum locomotive with the elegant green-red-black coloring, a perfect authentic sound and a prototypical steam generator can awaken the living memory of this super-Pacific – in the small measure as a fascinating contrast to the modern rail stars.
