Description
The VT 18.16 – a train for Central Germany
Elegant, fast and luxurious: The Görlitz type express rail car once stood for a new rail travel experience. He was the showpiece of the German State Railways of the GDR, spraying international flair and he not only filled the railway workers with great pride. Three of these ivory-red track stars have been preserved. Since 2003, however, there has been no operational copy, the elegant trains were unprotected outdoors and there was a risk of slow decay. Then former Reichbahn workers and SVT fans came on the plan and founded a non-profit gGmbH in 2019. Since then, we have worked with a lot of heart blood and great expertise to make a complete train shine in old splendor and to make it possible to experience it as a traveling legend. The project is under the motto "A train for Central Germany" and is intended to express its commitment to the Central German region. And as an "Ambassador to Europe", this race will recall the great time of luxurious international trains. Take a journey into an era with the new Märklin model, when sleek express rail cars like SVT Görlitz drove train runs with resonant names – as Neptune to Copenhagen, as Vindobona to Vienna and as Karlex to the Nobel spa town of Karlovy Vary.
Model: Diesel express train wagon series VT 18.16 (model SVT Görlitz), in the state of the remanufactured museum set by SVT Görlitz gGmbH. Based on the design of the German State Railways (DR/DDR) from the 1960s and 1970s, as a sign of international fast traffic. 4-part unit. 1 railcars VTA, 1 intermediate VMC with dining room and kitchen, 1 intermediate carriages VMD, 1 traction VTB. Current operating condition from 2025/26.
Model: 4-part unit. With digital decoder mfx + and extensive sound and light functions. Regulated high-power drive with flywheel mass in one traction unit, all four axles powered through cardan. Traction tyres. Serially integrated LED interior lighting, driver's cab lighting, driver's cab lighting, engine room lighting, lighting kitchen area and wall lamps in the dining room all digitally switchable. Three-light spike signal changes depending upon the direction of travel, two red tail lights and interior lighting conventional in operation, can be switched digitally. All lighting is provided by maintenance-free and warm white and red light emitting diodes (LED). Multipart interior. Guide rail multipole live special couplers between the vehicles. Slider switch with power supply via the respective front traction unit, depending on the direction of travel. With buffer storage. Many separately applied details. At both ends of the imitation automatic coupling (without function). Minimum radius for operation 360 mm. Length of the 4-piece set approx. 113 cm.
Märklin supports the reconstruction of this legendary train with a donation of EUR 25,000.
This model is available in DC version in the TRIX H0 range under article number 25175.
