Electric locomotive 1046 009 of the Austrian Federal Railways.In order to counter the increasing demand in fast-moving city traffic and the associated capacity bottlenecks, the Austrian Federal Railways ordered the baggage railcars of the 4061 series from the Wiener Lokomotivfabrik and the ABES group of companies (Verbund of AEG, Elin and Siemens-Schuckert Wien). In two series, a total of 25 1,600 kW units were ordered. Since the luggage compartment did not prove to be fit for business during day-to-day operation, baggage was rarely transported in 4061.
