Description
Steam locomotive 38 2833 of the German State Railroad.
In the GDR, the appearance of the P 8 conversion, after the installation of the Giesl flat injector, was called "crushing" by the personnel. In the course of performance measurement driving at a speed of 50 km/h, a carbon saving of 14% could be demonstrated as compared to the locomotive with control suction unit. In 1966 and 1967, 75 locomotives were converted to the "Unit" in Leipzig. The operation was limited to the three regional railway directorates Cottbus, Erfurt and Magdeburg. From there the operations were carried out, mostly in passenger transport with Rekowagen and other types of wagon.
