Description
As a further development of the 628.2 series, a total of 304 diesel trains of the 628.4/928.4 series were put into service in Germany from 1992 to 1995. Major changes compared to the predecessors are the wider doors at the close coupling ends. In order to avoid losing space in the interior, the car bodies of the two-part vehicles were extended by half a meter at constant bogie distances. This made them 46.4 m long. The extra weight of the vehicles required an increase in power in the drive: 485 kW instead of 410 kW are now available here. The vehicles are used in most regions of Germany.
