Description
Additional set with four intermediate wagons for ICE 3neo electric train set series 408 "Velaro MS" of the German Railways.
4-piece supplementary set consisting of a 1 transformer wagon. Classe, a Middle wagon 2. Class, a converter wagon 2. Class and a transformer wagon 2. Class.
Since 2013, Deutsche Bahn AG has been using the "Velaro D" vehicle family from Siemens as series 407. After a few problems starting the trains today prove themselves by a high reliability.
In 2019, Deutsche Bahn AG signed a supply contract for the delivery of up to 90 multiple units, which are intended not only to be used in Germany but also to transport to the Netherlands and Belgium. Based on the successful Velaro platform, the first so-called Velaro MS and ICE 3neo were rolling on the tracks on time from December 2022. A total of 90 trains will be delivered by 2028, each consisting of 8-part units. The trains are produced at the Siemens plant in Krefeld-Uerdingen. The design is strongly oriented toward the previous series 407 but has been visually modified. Roof areas and installed safety systems are also very different.
At the end of 2024, the 408's gradually replaced the 406 series, which previously ensured traffic to Belgium and the Netherlands for the DB Group. The series is now an integral part of the German long-distance transport network. Thanks to its maximum speed of 300 km/h, the ICE 3neo contributes a lot to ensuring the so-called Germany cycle.
