User & Safety Instructions 2251628 SCHAUDT Charging voltage booster Booster WA 121545
Description
The Booster WA 121545 is used for optimal charging of lead acid/lead gel, AGM1 and AGM2 batteries as well as lithium batteries while driving in 12 V on-board networks. The connected home battery is charged independantly of the alternator voltage. Switching to trickle charging is done depending on current or time and automatically.
When a battery temperature sensor is connected, the charging voltages are adjusted to the battery temperature.
For optimum charging without overloading the starter battery circuit, not only the voltage of the home battery but also the voltage of the starter battery is measured via a voltage sensor.
Modern alternators with energy-saving charging strategies are installed in EURO6 vehicles. A booster is required here. In these alternators, the charging voltage fluctuates very strongly depending on the driving condition (e.g. MB Sprinter 12.6V – 15.0V). When accelerating or with sufficient starter battery charging, the alternator voltage is strongly reduced, while when braking, it is strongly increased in order to save energy through recuperation.
This prevents - without booster - an optimal charging of the living room battery, or even leads to its discharge when the battery is fully charged via the 230V-network.
With conventional alternators, the residential battery ground is also improved by using the booster WA 121545. Especially for long charging lines, the charging current is significantly higher. For AGM batteries that require a charge voltage of 14.7V, the use of a booster is essential.
The Booster WA 121545 is a synchronized up/down converter, which compensates the fluctuating alternator voltage and provides a high charging current. If the alternator signal "D+" is present, it goes into operation. It has a very high degree of efficiency. This allows a very compact and light construction. The built-in fan is very quiet and only runs at high power.
Adjustable battery types:
Lead acid battery: 14.4V / 13.4V
Lead gel battery: 14.4V / 13.8V
AGM1 BATTERY 14.4V / 13.8V
AGM2 BATTERY: 14.7V / 13.7V
Lithium battery: 14.4V constant (CCCV or IU-characteristic line for LiFePO4 batteries with own battery management system)
