With the Le Grand Macho RT we now offer an actively cooled version of our popular semi-passive cooler. Newly included in the delivery is the PWM-controlled TY 147 B fan, a further enhancement of the TY 147 A. Thanks to the special side slots the fan is quiet in use once again. This makes the cooler with certainty first choice for Silent-enthusiasts. Active cooling, the Le Grand Macho RT achieves a cooling capacity of up to 280 watt TDP.

The heatsink design of Le Grand Macho has not been touched. The Le Grand Macho RT is approx. 3 mm lower than a macho and thus fits in housings, for which a macho is already too high. The asymmetric heat sink design - which is already copied by other manufacturers - guarantees the cooler thereby a maximum compatibility with current mainboards. The Le Grand Macho RT thus does not block the topmost PCIe slot, a frequent problem with tower coolers.

Like the Macho REV. B the Le Grand Macho RT has a significantly enlarged, nickel-plated and high-gloss polished base in the dimensions 53 x 40 mm. The Le Grand Macho is thus also best equipped for the latest Intel core i7 high-performance processors with up to 8 cores. Thanks to the special design of the cooling fins, in Intel LGA2011/2011-3 mainboard are available 48 mm between the board and the bottom of the cooler. Thus the corresponding RAM-latches can be blocked, without there being collisions between the RAM and the heat sink.

The Le Grand Macho matches the other members of the Macho family visually and offers an especially noble appearance thanks to the nickel-plated heat pipes together with the black anodized Top-Fin.

A highlight of the Le Grand Macho RT is the especially run-quiet fan. The cooler is fitted with a temperature-controlled fan TY 147 B (PWM) in series. With a speed of 300 to 1,300 rpm (+/- 15%) the TY 147 B is particularly silent. In normal operation, Le Grand is practically imperceptible.

The TY 147 B is equipped with a wear-resistant "Fluid Dynamic Bearing". The output power of the fan optimized for ultra-silent operation varies between 29 and an impressive 125 m³/h at a noise development of approx. 14 - 20 dB(A). The revised fan with its unique design possesses the mounting points of a conventional 120 mm fan and has a larger inner diameter than the conventional 140 mm fan. The fan is mounted securely with the accompanying, revised brackets at the heat sink - self-adhesive anti-vibration pads for an uncoupled fixing are present in the delivery.

The aluminum cooling fins are fitted with several air holes which counteract air accumulation between the individual cooling fins. The special design of the aluminum fins on the heat sink creates an especially low air resistance. The oval air duct in the center of the radiator provides controlled air turbulence within the heat sink, which can be discharged even more effectively. The heat sink is aligned toward the rear of the housing wall, so incompatibilities can be feared when using memory modules with high-build heat spoilers despite the impressive dimensions of the heat sink. In addition, the cooler benefits from the air flow, which is generated by the mostly available, rear casing fan.

The nickel-plated C1100 copper floor plate of the cooler is highly polished and has a slightly convex shaped surface. The convex shape improves cooling performance on flat surfaces, especially on Intel systems. The design, which was developed several years ago by Thermaright, has now been "taken over" by various other manufacturers.

As with all our powerful coolers, the Le Grand Macho RT also uses the proven heat pipe technology. Seven powerful 6 mm heatpipes provide an especially efficient discharge of the waste heat of the processor. The heat pipes are integrated into the nickel-plated copper base plate to ensure as effective a heat dissipation as possible.

The Le Grand Macho RT comes with a universal mounting kit that supports all current Intel and AMD platforms (Intel LGA775/2011/1150/1155/1366/1156/2011-3/1151* and AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3/FM1/FM2/FM2+).

To make installing the cooler when the motherboard is already mounted as easy as possible, the accessories of course contain the popular Screwdriver with magnetic top again. The delivery package is rounded off by the high-quality Chill Factor 3 heat conductive paste in the practical 2 gram syringe.
