The SPAX-typical T-STAR plus drive is a so-called Torx socket. This shape increases the attack surface in our T-STAR plus, and the T-STAR plus bits fit optimally in the screw head. The best possible power transfer from screwdriver to screw by T-STAR plus enables a fast working, and much more efficient than with all other drives.
The fixing thread consists of a main thread which is inserted in the substructure and the lower head thread. This lower head thread ensures that the top board on the substructure is securely maintained in all weather conditions. The smooth shaft between the threaded parts records the movements of the dieters. They never have to screw up wooden planks again, because they get loose or creak too strongly!
In certain areas, you must attach wood attachments to metal sub-structures. This is the case, for example, with our terrace screw SPAX ALU or in dry construction. As normal screws would fail on hard metal, we also have screws with a special drill tip in our range. Externally, the tip is similar to a metal drill and has two small blades. The SPAX ALU drilling in aluminum up to 4 mm wall thickness, so that the thread can groove in the material. They can be screwed in just as easily as our wooden screws.
For you this means: At a certain wall thickness of 2 mm in metal and 4 mm in aluminum the pre-drilling with a metal drill is not necessary. No need to change bits, no thin metal drill broken off in the screw hole.
The abbreviation A2 on our stainless steel screws is based on the alloy of HER steel. Screws in the stainless steel version A2 offer high protection against corrosion and medium strength. Low is their resistance to seawater and acids. For this reason, they are screwed in outdoor areas that are far from the coast.
