The clamp-on ammeter is the ideal instrument for measuring voltages up to 1500 V AC/DC and currents of up to 1000 A AC/DC. The current measurement in the clamp meter is done inductively. The supply line is inserted in the clamp-on ammeter for this purpose. This has the special advantage that the current can be measured during operation. This allows the current clamp to be used for maintenance work on photovoltaic systems, for example. Photovoltaic systems consist of many different solar cells, which are connected in series. Here, the current clamp can be used to measure the individual currents of individual rows to limit possible errors.
