Description

Model kit of a Trabant 601, the third and most frequently built model of the Trabant series, which was manufactured from the year 1964 at the VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau. Duroplast, a plastic and cotton-based material, is used for bodywork planking. An air-cooled two-cylinder two-stroke engine with an unmistakable noise setting drove the 601, which initially offered 23 hp, then 26 hp from 1969. With more than 2.8 million copies produced, the 1990 only slightly modified Trabant 601 became the mass vehicle of the people in the former East Germany.
