Roco 7510170 H0 e-LOC re 4/4 III 43 (DCC) Electric locomotive of the Swiss South East Railway AG (SOB)

To mark the 25-year anniversary of today's Swiss South East Railway AG (SOB), Roco is expanding its Re 4/4 range. The Swiss South-East Railway was created in 2001 from the merger of the former Bodensee-Toggenburg railway and the South-East railway. The SOB operates a network of approximately 111 kilometers across the Alpine region from Lake Constance to Arth-Goldau. The South East Railway received its first Re 4/4 III in 1967, which was provided with the operating number 41. The locomotive originates from the ordering process of the first 50 re 4/4 II of the SBB The locomotive was delivered with a different transmission ratio, thus it was ideal for the steep tracks with up to 50‰. The maximum speed was only 125 km/h, but an hourly power of 200 kN was reached. In comparison, the Re 4/4 II has an hour force of 170 kN, but instead a highest speed of 140 km/h.
The "Golden Chair" was often called Re 4/4 III at the SOB, was the basis for an order of 20 locomotives of the type Re 4/4 III by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). From 1983 to 85, three of these locomotives (11351–11353) were sold to the SOB and received the consecutive numbers 42–44. The locomotives stood out not only by the yellow lettering of their SBB sister locomotives, but in particular also by the so-called private railway headlights. Furthermore, the locomotives were given rectangular buffers, which made it possible to push commuter trains. The locomotives were used for all kinds of tasks. In the direct express trains between Romanshorn and Lucerne and from 1992 in the classical Alps Express with the unit wagons IV (EW IV wagon) of the SOB, BT and the SBB The four locomotives took over many other tasks, whether goods as well as postal trains, pilgrims or construction trains. The use of the SOB's own vehicles extends far beyond its own network. WAS of the SOB Re 4/4 III also covered the operations far away from its own network. In the years 1994–96 the four locomotives were replaced by the SBB prototype locomotives Re 4/4 IV 10101-10104. The circulation thus closes and the locomotives are back to the SBB, with the 41 locomotive being given the number 11350 with the SBB.
