Description
The model is equipped with a four-pin electrical coupling on one side. By means of DIP-switch the power consumption can be switched between the locomotive and the Roco rail-jet control wagon (only in design with electrical coupling) for the push-pull train operation.
The electric locomotives series 1216 (Taurus 3) are multi-system three-phase universal locomotives based on the technology of the Siemens EuroSprinter type family. The exterior and the high-speed bogies were taken over by the first two generations of Taurus, but with some detail changes.
From 2006 to 2008 50 locomotives were delivered to the ÖBB. They are designed to operate on routes with a line voltage of 15kV/16.7 Hz, 25 kV/50 Hz and 3 kV/DC. The maximum output is 6,400 kW, the maximum speed is 230 km/h. They are used in national and international passenger and goods traffic.
For individual countries the locomotive must also have the respective country packages. It contains the special equipment for train radio, display, speech output, train control systems, labels and additional equipment. Variant A (1216.0) locomotives are in addition to being used in Austria and Germany and are also fitted with an additional country package for Italy and Slovenia.
