Description

The electric locomotive of the series 145 was developed from the end of the 1990s by ADtranz (later Bombardier Transportation) for goods traffic in Germany. It is part of the first generation of the modular TRAXX platform and represents a further development of the 120 series, but without the additional equipment necessary for passenger transport.
The 145 series is based technically on the almost identical 146 series, which is designed for passenger transport with a higher top speed (160 km/h) and for example a destination display. The BR 145, on the other hand, is designed for a highest speed of 140 km/h and optimized for the goods train service.
Between 1997 and 2000, a total of 80 machines of this series were commissioned. The main application area was initially the freight traffic of the German railways, particularly with DB Cargo. The locomotives are technically equipped with modern three-phase induction motors, a power of 4,200 kW as well as an electric resistance and recuperation brake.
