Description

The machines of the series E 41 (from 1968: 141) were delivered to the Deutsche Bundesbahn for the first time in 1956 for light and mixed service on main lines with a maximum speed of 120 km/h and a continuous output of 2,310 kW. As the only series of the unit locomotive program, they received a switchgear on the low-voltage side of the transformer. The switchgear had a characteristic noise, which led to the nickname "pop frog" along with the large tensile force jumps. From 1987 the locomotives were painted in oriental red.
