Description

The AW-Tester is a mobile measuring device for water activity. Water activity indicates the amount of water available biologically for microorganisms such as bacteria, molds or the like. Each type of micro-organism has a minimum value for water activity, below which growth is no longer possible. The higher the aw value of a food, the lighter it is perishable. Bacteria usually require water activity of over 0.98, but also significantly lower water activity of up to 0.6 can be tolerated, for example by extremely halophile bacteria.

The AW tester has a measuring range of 0.01 aw ... 1 aw with a high accuracy of ±0.03 aw. The probe attachment is magnetic so that the probe can be measured safely and with light protection.
