Description
Since the end of the 1990s, the ICN (InterCity tilt train) of the SBB has been an integral part of Swiss long-distance transport and still shapes the picture of modern high-speed trains on curved lines. It was developed from the consortium of Adtranz (now Bombardier), Siemens and Fiat Ferroviaria for fast and comfortable travel on demanding topographical routes. The seven-part train trains connect cities such as Zurich, Basel, Geneva, Lucerne, Lugano and Saint Gallen with high frequency and reliability. Thanks to the integrated active tilting technology, the ICN can traverse curves at up to 30% higher speed than conventional trains – without compromising driving comfort.
